The Hamachi VPN client is a free product from logMeIn that creates proxied strong encryption VPN tunnels that work reliably even behind firewalls. What this means is, you can have access to your business network from home, or while you are on the road. You and your employees can work even when you aren’t in the office over a secure connection . This is how it works:

1. Hamachi is installed and configured on the computers with files and data that you want to have access to
2. Hamachi is also installed and configured on the computers that will be accessing your files and data remotely
3. Once the program is started on all, (or even just some), of your computers, a secure connection is established over the internet and you are ready to work.

That’s it! You now have remote and secure access to your business network resources. Once the remote connection is established, you can open spreadsheets, work on proposals or quotes, you name it. They have several other products too, including a “premium” version of Hamachi that is subscription based. There is even a third party open source version for the Mac, but it takes a bit more expertise to install than the couple of clicks and keystrokes required to get the Windows version running.
